When I was a kid (in the late 80s early 90s) it was absolutely a thing. I recall a game in the early 90s where multiple players were ejected for a fight that broke out on the field.

It was like watching the Ravens and Bengals play now.

That said, I grew up in Chicago, so my 2 favorite teams are the Bears and whomever is currently beating the living snot out of Green Bay. I felt like a traitor 2 weeks ago uttering the phrase "Go Lions".

“Usually reserved for major donors..”

And then later ..

“..be curious to learn more about her talent, grit and generosity," USC president Carol Folt said.”

She could have been referring to generosity of time but I would be truly shocked if USC missed an opportunity to grab some cash.

Either way, great honor for her.

Yeah, that spoke volumes about his character. It says a lot that he is walking away from the UFC, while its president sticks around after beating his wife in public with no repercussions from Endeavor or Disney.

My hope is that Francis leads the charge for a union when he retires from fighting.

Fans definitely share a certain responsibility here as well. Unfortunately a significant portion of the fanbase subscribes to the "just bleed" mantra, as many of those who care about the fighters have stepped away from the sport due to the lack of protections for fighter well-being.
