I’m not even a soccer fan and I think he’s the most important sports icon of all time.

I’m actually tearing up right now. They really called a 48hr ceasefire just to watch him play (and the civil war continued for a year after the game). No violence or arrests at the stadium during the match, either. I knew Pelé was the GOAT, but I don’t think I appreciated the full extent of his impact.

Now ex-president.
But I also find it hilarious that the person posting the photo is claiming Bolsonaro is being humble for eating at KFC…. In a foreign country, a luxury the vast majority most Brazilians can only dream of.

How do you escape an uncomfortable question? Yelling whatabout.
Sanctions are applied when it is convenient. Sport and politics are mixed only when it suits some interest. Who gives a fuck now about LQBTQ in Qatar? Nobody. Absolutely nobody. Not even the internet snowflakes.

Did they ban Iraqi athletes when they gassed Kurds?

Your sports GOAT may be good but, but he will never be “was the result of pausing a war so people can watch you” good.

They should let him play, or at least participate in some way.

I think there is a meaningful difference between the symbol of a country hosting a competition and the symbol of a country participating in a competition. Hosting is done by the state. Competing is done by the people. A victory earned by the people of Belarus could be abused by their state, but I'm not sure that means they should be excluded. Like you said it is unjust to them, and really does nothing to earn justice for Ukraine or strengthen their position.

Brazil having an epic celebration of the life of one of it’s national treasures, meanwhile it’s president is hiding in small-town Florida eating KFC, lmao.

Hopefully it wasn't Scott Sterling. I don't think he would survive the masters.
